Our team consists of both men and women between the ages of 17 and 30, 80% being women. We strongly believe that Mailelani would not be where it is today without our staff and our local suppliers. They are the biggest part of the company and we are proud to have them be a part of our team. We work with farmers from both Savai'i and Upolu, the two biggest islands of Samoa, and in turn they work and purchase coconuts from at least 30 other families in their village and neighbouring villages. For many years, Mailelani has also worked with Loto Taumafai, a school for people with disabilities and/or special needs. The students craft wooden spoons to be sold together with Mailelani coconut massage oil. Loto Taumafai students have also carved Mailelani Elei boards (traditional printing method) 100% profit goes back to Loto Taumafai school. Kitiona, un jeune villageois samoan actif avec des abdos à tomber par terre et Sylvie, une jeune Suissesse aventureuse qui a vécu les 3 premières années de sa vie à Madras, en Inde (maintenant connue sous le nom de Chennai) Leur histoire commence là où ils se sont rencontrés, JEM , Honolulu. JEM : Jeunesse en Mission, est une organisation missionnaire créée pour partager l'évangile tout en servant et en aidant les gens des pays visités. Cet amour pour les gens est resté avec eux longtemps après qu'ils aient terminé leur séjour à JEM. Après s'être mariés, vivre en Suisse pendant 10 ans et avoir leurs deux premières filles, ils ont décidé qu'il était temps de déménager aux Samoa et de démarrer une entreprise qui profiterait non seulement à leur famille mais aussi à leur communauté. Ce n'était pas toujours facile, Kiti ne savait pas ce qu'il faisait au départ mais il était déterminé à le faire, et à le faire bien ! Après 2 ans d'expérimentation avec des ingrédients locaux, notre premier savon est sorti en l'an 2000.
